Summary

A grant program is available for nonprofit organizations, municipalities, First Nations and charities located in Ontario. The opportunity is intended to support local initiatives that enhance community life, strengthen services and improve access to programs across sectors such as health, education, arts and culture, social services, physical activity and heritage. Eligible applicants include registered charities, nonprofit organizations in good standing, and government-related agencies; for-profit businesses and individuals are not eligible.

Grant awards are typically offered up to CAD $5,000, with the maximum amount dependent on the specific fund or category selected. The funds may be used for project costs, purchases of materials or equipment, program development, capacity building, or community initiatives that demonstrate local benefit and sustainability. Applicants are expected to align their proposal with community needs and to describe how the grant will help reach measurable outcomes and reach underserved populations.

The intent of this funding is to empower local organizations to respond to identified needs in the region, expand services for residents, and foster inclusive, engaged communities. Projects that show clear community involvement, inclusive access, partnership potential, and a plan for longer-term impact are favourably viewed. The program focuses exclusively on groups serving the designated geographic area within the Temiskaming region and seeks to maximize the value of local charitable resources for the benefit of residents.

Applications are evaluated on the basis of need, impact, feasibility and alignment with the grant program’s purpose. Funds are generally awarded on a one-time basis for projects completed within a set timeframe rather than for ongoing general operating costs. This opportunity offers built-in community focus and flexibility for eligible organizations that are working to deliver meaningful programs and services.
